Citadel The Immune Omnibus Book 4 edition by David Kazzie Literature Fiction eBooks

What a challenging book to write. As humans it is a natural inclination to shy away from pain. And a story, FOUR volumes long, about the death throes of a planet's complement of inhabitants, is a lot of turbulence and difficulty to ingest. in this case our own Mother Earth and it's population of people in all countries. The apocalypse rampant and everywhere. Triggered by the worst viral plague yet to be imagined. David Kazzie writes not to titillate or evoke shock and horror from his readers. But rather presents a scenario which lends words to make credable what one can grasp here as plausible. A horrific viral sunami engulfs earth in its unstoppable grip. How it decimates human life unfolds in the rapidity of a blink. Human nature again on loud and amplified display as some reactions devotedly compassionate and serviceful, while amazingly others not. As 99% of population quickly perishes, few survivors then face the perils of a disintegrated society. We follow a handful of protagonists as they seek to find one another in the chaos and maelstrom of erratic and devastated human behavior, and discover how this holocaust arises. This story illustrates the strength and breadth of the human spirit, along with its depravity. A well written, believable saga of what could but hopefully will never unfold. Dr. Robin Bentel

Citadel The Immune Omnibus Book 4 edition by David Kazzie Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Overall for the series a definite 5 star. Conclusions are hard to do just right. But there is so much potential here. A great story and a potentially great story remains if the author ever considers a sequel I would certainly read it! I could easily see this being a movie or everybody TV series in the right hands. Read the book - you won't be disappointed.
I love this series and this book did not disappoint.
I'm a little sorry that this was the end of The Immune series. The "end times" theme has been done a number of times, but I think Kazzie's take on it was unique and interesting. As others have noted, it would be (and perhaps that's the plan) great if the story continued to see how the survivors fare. If not, at least we had the pleasure of reading a tale well told, and without a lot of pseudo science, alien invaders, or the like.

I am looking forward to David Kazzie's next writing effort. Based upon some of his past work, he is also quite capable of writing humor, and I hope that he will consider trying something in that genre. Whatever his next effort, however, I will be looking forward to reading it.
The fourth in THE IMMUNE series, Citadel, moves slowly toward an inevitable conclusion. The book's balance between detail and action is lopsided on the side of detail. Every setting in the book, every emotion of every character, every act is described until nothing is left to the reader's imagination. And all this comes at the cost of the flow of the plot, which when Kazzie gets around to it, is often pretty good. It's imperative to read each book in sequence. You may not want to buy Citadel first. In fact, by the time you get to it, you may not want it at all.
Had a hard time with rating this book. I gave it three stars because it was better than previous book but I disliked the ending! My biggest pet peeve with books and movies is an inconclusive ending. I don't believe in "you can decide for yourself how it ends" or "what do you think happens next?" It's not my flipping story! It's your story, you're telling it to me! YOU tell ME what comes next, how it ends. If I wanted my ending I'd have written my own story!
Was also not pleased that, after paying $2.99 for each (short) book, the store recommended the Omnibus version, which incorporates all 4 books into one for $6.99! These four books were overpriced at $2.99 each because they were too short and not that well written to warrant the price. The first 2 got me interested enough to keep going but now I'm a bit sorry I did.
"Citadel" is the fourth and final part of Kazzie's novel "The Immune." This part is very much in the same vein as the concluding acts of other action thrillers. There's shooting, killing, close calls, lucky coincidences. It's well done, but there are few real surprises.

Taken as a whole, "The Immune" is a definite step up for Kazzie. Nevertheless, it doesn't ultimately live up to the promise shown in part 1 and (especially) part 2. In some cases, carefully crafted characters are underused, while in other cases, key characters are underdeveloped. One substantial sequence seems to have little purpose. (I apologize for being vague; I don't want to spoil the story.)

The basic writing is good, the action is engaging, and it moves along nicely. With a few tweaks, it would make a very entertaining movie.
I liked the book. I thought it tied up the loose ends nicely. I thought it would make for the great second half of a movie. I liked Adam well enough in the first book, but in the second, Evergreen, and this one, he is a little too pat and structured. I am not sure really how to describe it. He is a good guy, I'd like him in person, but the choices he makes are a little too by the book. I really liked all the books, and the plot twists were good. I'd have liked more about the women in captivity, and I think more about his daughter early on, in maybe a split point of view setting. I do recommend the book. I thought it was a nice change from the other dystopic books I'd been reading in that the source of the end of the world was a virus, and not just any virus, but one that was engineered to do so.
